“This award underscores Professor Cavanaugh’s significant contributions to oncology nursing and the preparation of nurses to deliver expert, compassionate care,” said School of Nursing Dean Patricia Bruckenthal. “This recognition is a testament not only to their leadership and scholarship but also to their unwavering commitment to advancing nursing education and improving patient care.”

The mission of Jonas Nursing is to enhance the nursing profession by developing nurse leaders who will address the nursing shortage by educating the future nursing workforce and by investing in the health and well-being of our most underserved communities.

The Flynn Foundation addresses the critical need for more and better-prepared oncology nurses, working with nursing schools, leading cancer hospitals, and philanthropic partners to inspire and attract students to paid fellowships that offer unique clinical experience, expert training in compassionate care, mentoring, and a pathway to their desired careers.
